After two and a half weeks, we are just about finished at St. Mary’s church in Belfast city centre.
It’s been a great project to be involved in and what we’ve provided for our clients has surpassed what they thought was possible. It’s nice when people are delighted with the outcome
The original church on this site dates back to the year 1784. There has been much renovation work since then but the main church building is a large space with solid stone walls all around. The external worship area that is known as the grotto has been there since the 1950s. Our job was to transmit one seemless WiFi connection throughout the full site, which includes many buildings, internally and externally. With it being a busy church, it wasn’t easy running all the required cables and boring holes through stone walls while there’s a mass going on For that reason, it hasn’t exactly been straightforward!
We’ve also taken over the existing CCTV system and upgraded much of it and also added in another ten IP cameras. Rather than the way it was before, they now have one system, with all the cameras on it instead of three different systems where half of the cameras didn’t work!
They now have an absolutely seemless WiFi6 connection, consisting of eight UniFi WiFi access points, running throughout the site internally and externally. This will really help the church function as they need to in this day and age with video conferencing, streaming live mass, weddings and funerals and running the audio/visual side of things. There are so many different systems that are running inside the church and the church buildings that require a reliable and secure WiFi solution to be in place. All of this is cloud hosted and will be maintained and managed remotely by ourselves
