Case Study: Smart Access Control and Seamless Network Relocation for the Live Life Wellbeing Centre
It is always a privilege to work with long-term clients, but it is even better when they are also close friends. Last week, our team was on-site at the brand-new premises of the Live Life Wellbeing Centre to deploy a comprehensive, top-to-bottom UniFi network, Wi-Fi, and smart door access solution.
With the centre’s official opening day looming just 24 hours after our final day on-site, the pressure was on. It was absolutely touch-and-go whether we would have the entire system live and the broadband pumping in time for the grand opening ribbons to be cut—but our team pulled it off flawlessly.
Here is how we transformed the centre into a high-tech, highly efficient wellness hub.
1. Out with the Old Layout: Cabinet & Cable Relocation
When we first stepped into the main office, we noticed an immediate problem: the existing internal data cabling had been terminated into a small communications cabinet placed right in the middle of a high-traffic area. It severely limited how the client could utilize the office space.
Before we could install any new hardware, we had to fix the foundation. Our team:

Carefully redirected and extended the internal cabling network.

Decommissioned the old, poorly located housing.

Installed a much larger, cleaner comms cabinet at the opposite end of the office, freeing up the main workspace and leaving plenty of room for future hardware expansion.
2. Upgrading to Face-Unlock: UniFi Access Control
The building had a basic, pre-existing door access system, but it fell completely short of the modern functionality and security the Live Life team needed. We stripped it out entirely and replaced it with a state-of-the-art UniFi Access ecosystem.
At the main entrance, we installed the sleek UniFi G3 Intercom. This powerhouse unit provides incredibly secure face-unlock capabilities for authorised staff and users entering the site, alongside crisp digital keypad options. Inside the building, we paired the external unit with multiple UniFi Intercom Viewers, allowing staff to see exactly who is at the door and grant access with a single tap.
3. The Powerhouse Hardware Stack
To handle a heavy flow of daily visitors, public Wi-Fi, internal administration, and security, we deployed a robust, fully managed UniFi stack alongside our own bespoke communication services:

UniFi Dream Machine Pro (UDM Pro): The central gateway managing all security, routing, and access control.

UniFi 24-Port Pro Max Switch: A high-performance, PoE-capable switch ensuring zero bottlenecks for data-hungry devices.

UniFi Network Storage (UNAS): Dedicated network-attached storage to securely log building data, media, and local backups locally on-site.

Managed Wi-Fi: Four strategically placed UniFi Wi-Fi Access Points deployed throughout the centre to guarantee seamless, dead-zone-free coverage for both staff and guests.
4. Tying it Together: Netii Full-Fibre & VoIP
To breathe life into this high-tech setup right before the grand opening, we fired up a dedicated, ultra-fast Netii Broadband Full-Fibre connection.
Over this rock-solid fibre line, we also deployed our Netii VoIP Phone System, giving the reception and management teams a crystal-clear, feature-rich digital cloud phone network to handle member bookings, inquiries, and daily operations effortlessly.
